May 11, 2011… my son was taken from us through a completely avoidable act of recklessness, arrogance, and selfishness by a man who was already on probation for drunk driving. A man who’d been through drunk driving education, and who’d only had his license returned to him for 3 months to the day when he ran my son over. The driver was on his way home from the bar, from watching a hockey game. My son was on his way home from work.

Justice in this situation is not balanced at all. My son’s killer will be out of jail in as soon as 7 years. Changes need to be made in the laws and there needs to be a standard. He should have been ineligible for his license for many years instead of having it returned to him after paying a small fee. Driving is a privilege, not a right; we have to find a way to inconvenience the repeat offenders in such a way that they understand the seriousness of their actions on a personal level because unfortunately the devastation of the victims of their actions is often not enough to effect change.

Please, please keep in mind… one of the biggest problems here is the arrogance that people carry when they think they couldn’t possibly be “that” person. People look at the driver in my situation and think it’s only people like him who cause these tragedies but that’s simply not true. There is no bias here, affluence and compassion don’t change the end results.

Join us in our efforts to help effect change; keep it locked here on emancipation radio as we organize our efforts and bring you a lot more information in the future.

Peace and Blessings,

It might have been on Shalamar’s Top 20 smash “Dancing in the Sheets” from the Footloose soundtrack, or its Grammy Award-winning “Don’t Get Stopped in Beverly Hills” from Beverly Hills Cop. Or maybe it was with Crown of Thorns, the hard-hitting band he and the Plasmatics’ Jean Beauvoir fronted during the early ’90s. Or perhaps it was on albums by Janet Jackson and Wendy O Williams.

Suffice to say the guy’s been around awhile. And now, after five years of making award-winning and spiritually enriching Native American flute music, FREE is back and rockin’ with AMERICAN HORSE, a fierce thoroughbred of an album whose 11 tracks remind us of the singular musical talent he possesses.

“This is a real rock album, and I’m very proud of it,” says FREE. “I was just inspired to write some cool rock stuff again. To me, rock ‘n’ roll is dead as we know it; there’s some cool music out there, but it’s not rock ‘n’ roll, classic stuff like we used to know–Zep, Hendrix, Cream, all of that. That’s what I do. My heart is in rock ‘n’ roll, and that’s what’s on this album.” Read more at http://mickifree.com/bio/bio.html
